This project is a vacation residence, used by the homeowner only occasionally when visiting Taichung. Therefore, our design focus on “maintaining the longest possible spatial lines” to preserve a sense of openness and comfort. Throughout the design, we avoided full-height cabinetry and excessive built-in elements, instead adopting a lightweight and airy approach through the use of furniture and open frameworks to create a flexible and spacious atmosphere.
At the entrance, a movable screen separates the foyer from the living area, guiding the flow naturally toward the cloakroom while addressing the homeowner’s feng shui preference of “not seeing directly into the interior upon entry.” Beyond the foyer, the circulation unfolds gradually, with a simple curved ceiling that defines the most important line in the space, guiding the eye naturally forward.
The TV console and kitchen storage are designed as semi-furniture pieces, allowing the original architectural lines to remain visible and flow freely through the space. With dual circulation paths on both sides, this continuous line weaves through different areas, reinforcing the sense of openness and fluidity. Ultimately, we aimed to create a vacation home defined by pure lines and uncluttered space, offering the homeowner a relaxed and effortless rhythm of living each time they return.
